The 4th Turkish-Greek Meeting of Young Animators is taking place from November 30th to December 5th 2009 at the T.C. Maltepe University in Istanbul and within the framework of the “Animation Celebration 2009”.
The meeting will be hosted by T.C. Maltepe University in collaboration with the European Animation Center and the Athens School of Fine Arts.
The activity is supported by General Secretariat for Youth.
The meeting will be held in the T.C. Maltepe University campus.
More specifically, Turkish and Greek young animators will co-operate and co-create.
The theme of the workshops focuses on the city of Istanbul itself, which, from January 1st 2010, will be the Cultural Capital of Europe.

Greek Animation and Animators, creators of the wider audiovisual sector are honored in Turkey, on behalf of Istanbul Animation Festival, that will take place in from 21th to 30th of November 2008. For the benefit of the festival and the best possible presentation of Greece in Turkey, the Hellenic Audiovisual Institute, the European Animation Center and the Athens School of Fine Arts, have been united in one team and selected a series of various artistic activities in the context of the Turkey capital, that are targeting to reveal the Greek contemporary Visual Arts, through animation art, painting, sculpture, graffiti, video art, photography and music. Through this creative match of all the above forms of art, Greek artists present their propositions and attempt artistic interventions in the city, with collaboration of their Turkish associates.

SCREENINGS
Selected Greek Animated Films, from the whole Greek production apparition
GRAFFITI JAM SESSION
Artistic interventions that diverge from the limits of framing, filming or screening and are expanded on public walls are going to take place. Greek and Turksih artists will attempt –as a team- to leave their stigma within the city of Istanbul.
WORKSHOPS
Animation workshops will take place by Greek and Turkish young artists. Through simple and understandable procedures of animation, the artists are going to create short animation movies.
The workshop will be held in Faculty of Fine Arts of Maltepe University, Istanbul.
DISCUSION
The Greek team will take place in discussions concerning education, and professional practice within the field of audiovisuals of the two countries.
Turkish animators and artists will be invited by Hellenic Audiovisual Institute and European Animation Center to take part in 3rd ANIMART, (summer meeting about animation and the other audiovisual arts) which will be held on next July 2009, in Greece.

The European Animation Center through its activity “Meet the neighbours!” supports the collaboration among the South East European countries by establishing the following:
- “Nassos Vakalis” PRIZE FOR THE BEST EASTERN EUROPEAN ANIMATOR.
The award is given every year in the European Animated Film Festival "BALKANIMA" in Belgrade.
The prize covers the artist’s full accommodations to the next Animfest in Athens Greece, including presentation of his work and participation to the ANIMFEST jury committee.
This year’s winner is Veljko Popović from Croatia for his film:
“She Who Measures.”
- "Αnimart" ANNUAL INTERNSHIPS
a. The internships are offered to four SΕΡΒΙΑΝ students that excelled at their neohellenic studies in Belgrade University.
The internship supported by Eurobank EFG Serbia.
b. The internships are offered to TURKISH college artists that excelled at their art classes.
The young artist will have the chance to participate in various media workshops and receive training in animation techniques by established international animation professionals.
The internship includes the traveling expenses and full accommodations during ANIMART.

For the benefit of the festival and the best possible presentation of Greece in Serbia, the Hellenic Audiovisual Institute, the European Animation Centre and the Athens School of Fine Arts, have been united in one team and selected a series of various artistic activities in the context of the Serbian capital, that are targeting to reveal the Greek contemporary Visual Arts, through animation art, painting, sculpture, graffiti, video art, photography and music. Through this creative match of all the above forms of art, Greek artists present their propositions and attempt artistic interventions in the city, with collaboration of their Serbian associates.

ΕΧΗΙΒΙΤΙΟΝ
The Exhibition "Watch Now!" includes backgrounds, characters, storyboards, objects etc. that present the starting phase of animated films and artworks that attempt to approach the meaning of animation, developing the possibilities of the digital media, as well. Not to forget the artworks that remain loyal to the formed dialogue of the contemporary Fine Arts, giving us the possibility to be informed on what is going on in the field, and to reconsider our links to it, and our work.

Animation workshops will take place by Greek and Serbian Artists, in schools, orphanages and other youth institutions. Through simple and understandable procedures of animation, the artists, together with children, are going to create short animation movies.
CONFERENCES / LECTURES
The Greek team will take place in discussions concerning education, and professional practice within the field of audiovisuals of the two countries.
MASTER CLASS
Vakalis Nassos, animator, that works in Dreamworks studios in California, presents the stages of the animation production as they are implemented by the big animation studios around the world for both 2d and 3d productions. Emphasis will be given to the pre production stage of story-storyboarding and animatic, including the latest methods of storyboarding using digital tools.
HONOR
The Hellenic Audiovisual Institute and the European Animation Center, are inaugurating a new award since this year, an Honor for the best New Artist, from the countries of the Balkan region. The winner will participate for free in ANIMART, a meeting for animation that takes place every summer in Greece.
