Persons 2008 : PANAGIOTIS VELIANITIS

Panagiotis VELIANITIS studied composition and electroacoustic music with Thodoros Antoniou, Stefanos Vasileiadis and Haris Xanthoudakis. At the same time studied Economics and Statistics as specialization in the Economic University of Athens.

From 1986 participates as a composer in concerts of modern music in many countries.
In his multimedia works has collaborated with artists as I. Tampakeas (in the work "Pithiyia"), Ersi Hatziargyrou (music for the mobile sculpture "Lavrion 23 ") etc.

He participated in the MusICA's Festival in London with his work "Loghias" -for trombone, piano and tape-, specially written for the trombonist - performer and composer John Kenny and the pianist Joanna Haratsari.

For a short period he turned to improvised music working with musicians in Athens and Salonica and participated in various productions.

His work "Kledon" is included in the CD collection "Greek Music Avant guard of the 20th century".

He has written music movies, animation and many theatrical performances of ancient Greek drama and modern theater too.

Since 1991 he works under the director Theodoros Terzopoulos in ancient Greek drama performances.

He is a member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HelMCA) and of the Centre of Contemporary Music Research (CCMR), where he was specialized in the system of UPIC developed by Jiannis Xenakis as well as in computer music, sound synthesis and composition.

He has written books and articles about music and since 2003 heΆs a teacher of music at the elementary school.

Since 2007 he is detached to the Department of Music in the University of Athens teaching electroacoustic music editing techniques.
